Oven Baked Bacon

When the weekend calls for a bacon sandwich or a fry up then the easiest way to cook up a big batch of bacon is in the oven. Rather than grilling or frying bacon, baking it means it cooks on both sides at the same time and you don’t have to keep a close eye on it. I bake mine for 10 minutes because that’s the right length of time for the thickness of bacon I buy and how crispy we like it but you need to keep an eye on your first batch to figure out the right time for your bacon preference, then after that it’s a doddle.

  • Pre-heat the oven to 220° (200° Fan). Lay each piece of bacon on a baking sheet then bake in the oven for about 10 minutes. Check on the bacon after 5 minutes and drain off any excess fat then return to the oven.
  • The thickness of your bacon and how well done your like it will determine how long you cook it for. Once you know the timings to suit your taste it’s the easiest way to cook bacon.
  • Blot away any excess fat with some kitchen roll then serve up your bacon and get your weekend started.
